Our Community and Schools

Welcome to Orrville, Ohio — a small city with a big heart and even bigger aspirations. Nestled in the scenic countryside of Wayne County, Orrville is a vibrant, close-knit community where tradition meets innovation. Known for its rich heritage, strong local economy, and welcoming spirit, Orrville is home to the J.M. Smucker Company and many other thriving businesses. Our residents enjoy the comfort of a small town atmosphere while benefiting from convenient access to shopping, dining, and cultural experiences in nearby cities.

At the heart of our community lies a deep commitment to education. Orrville City Schools, proudly supported by our citizens, offer exceptional academic and extracurricular opportunities to help every child thrive. The district is located on a unified, modern campus featuring an elementary school serving preschool through grade four, a middle school for grades five through eight, and a high school for grades nine through twelve. These buildings are surrounded by outstanding facilities including a state-of-the-art auditorium, a multi-purpose training center, a turf athletic field, and direct access to Orr Park.

Every classroom is equipped with multimedia technology and interactive whiteboards, and a one-to-one Chromebook initiative ensures every student in kindergarten through twelfth grade has access to digital learning tools. The district values not only academic excellence but also athletics, the arts, and character development, striving to nurture well-rounded students who are prepared for college, careers, or service.

Our educational philosophy is rooted in partnership. Through the Heartland Education Community, launched more than 25 years ago, Orrville has built strong collaborations between schools, businesses, and local organizations. Priorities such as character education, early childhood learning, English language support, college and career readiness, and innovative after-school programming reflect our shared investment in youth development.

Volunteers play a vital role in our success, contributing thousands of hours through programs like OrrvilleReads, PTO, Junior Achievement, Booster Clubs, and classroom support. Our Board of Education is committed to maintaining small class sizes, ensuring personalized attention and support for all students.

Orrville High School offers more than 40 College Credit Plus courses through partnerships with the University of Akron Wayne College and Stark State College. Graduates pursue a variety of pathways. Approximately 55 to 60 percent continue their education or training, 35 to 40 percent enter the workforce, and 1 to 5 percent serve in the military. Seniors typically earn close to half a million dollars in scholarships each year.

Beyond the classroom, Orrville offers an exceptional quality of life. The city features beautifully maintained parks, walking trails, sports facilities, and picnic areas, all designed to bring families together. Public services such as our dedicated police, fire, and EMS departments help keep our community safe and well cared for, while thoughtful city planning supports a bright future for all residents.

Orrville is more than a place to live. It is a place to grow. Whether through education, business, or community life, our residents work hand in hand to create a supportive and forward-thinking environment where every student, family, and neighbor can succeed.
