NHS

Orrville High School proudly welcomed its newest National Honor Society (NHS) members during a meaningful induction ceremony held this morning in the OHS Auditorium. Families, staff, and classmates gathered to recognize students who exemplify the four foundational pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

The ceremony opened with the Advancing of the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a formal procession of current members and new inductees, accompanied by music performed by Mrs. Elyse Cummings. NHS President Charles Lorson welcomed attendees, and the NHS officers, Gianna Chiofalo (Vice President), Kennedy Leggett (Secretary), and Rachel Anderson (Treasurer), delivered reflections on the organization's four pillars.

Mr. Andy Brenner Praises Students During Induction

Orrville High School Principal Andy Brenner played an essential role in the ceremony, assisting with the induction process and offering remarks that celebrated the students' accomplishments and character. Mr. Brenner commended both current members and new inductees for their dedication to academic excellence and their commitment to leadership and service, highlighting how proud he is of the example they set for the entire school community.

He also introduced the inductees and helped lead several components of the ceremony, reinforcing the significance of the moment for students and their families. His remarks underscored the high expectations and strong Red Rider traditions upheld by NHS members.

Keynote Address: Soft Skills in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

This morning’s keynote speaker, Mrs. Sherry Leggett, delivered a powerful message about the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education and the workplace. She emphasized that while AI is transforming many technical aspects of modern careers, soft skills, such as communication, empathy, collaboration, integrity, adaptability, and leadership, are more vital than ever.

Mrs. Leggett praised the new inductees for already embodying these qualities, noting that their ability to think critically, work with others, and lead with character are strengths that cannot be replaced by technology. Her address offered a contemplative perspective on the significance of the NHS pillars in the contemporary world.
