Back-to-School Safety Reminders from the Orrville Police Department
Tomorrow's the big day, back to school! As students return to school, the Orrville Police Department encourages all members of our community to work together to ensure a safe and smooth transition for our young learners. Whether you’re driving, walking, or cycling, your attention and awareness can make all the difference.
For Drivers:
🚗 Slow down in school zones. Always observe flashing lights and posted speed limits.
🚌 Stop for school buses. When the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, it’s the law to stop.
🛑 Be mindful of crossing guards. Follow their directions to ensure children can cross safely.
🚲 Watch for students walking or biking. Pay extra attention near neighborhoods and bus stops.
For Parents & Students:
🚸 Use crosswalks. Always look both ways before crossing the street.
🚶♂️🚶♀️ Walk on sidewalks. If sidewalks are unavailable, walk facing traffic to increase visibility.
🚲 Bike responsibly. Wear a helmet, obey traffic laws, and always ride with the flow of traffic.
🚫📱 Avoid distractions. No texting or using phones while walking or biking near traffic.
For Everyone:
⏰ Allow extra travel time. During the first few weeks of school, expect changes in traffic patterns.
⚠️ Practice patience and courtesy. Our children’s safety is our top priority.
👮♂️ Report unsafe driving. If you see reckless driving or behavior, please contact local authorities immediately.
Let’s work together to ensure that every student in Orrville has a safe and successful school year.

Orrville Schools Kick Off the Year with a Joyful Back-to-School Bash & Meet the Team Night
August 14, 2025
The Orrville community came together on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Red Rider Stadium for a wonderful evening, the Back to School Bash and Meet the Team Night. Under sunny skies and a warm summer breeze, Red Riders of all ages gathered to celebrate the start of a new school year with fun, food, and community spirit.
Excitement filled the atmosphere from the moment families arrived. Children posed for photos with the Orrville mascot, laughter filled the air, children enjoyed themselves on inflatables, and food trucks lined the grounds, serving up local favorites. The Orrville Public Library’s Library on the Go van was on site, sharing books and resources to inspire young readers for the year ahead, and the Thriving Hills Church handed out school supplies.
The night also featured the traditional Meet the Team introductions, where the crowd cheered as student-athletes from every fall sport took the field. Tennis players, golfers, cross-country runners, soccer players, football players, volleyball players, and cheerleaders proudly represented their teams, showing off not only their school pride but also their commitment to excellence in the season ahead. And of course, the Red Rider Marching Band and Auxiliary performed!
“This event is about more than just sports or school supplies,” said Superintendent Dr. David Toth. “It’s about community, connection, and kicking off the year with the energy and positivity that Orrville is known for. A big shoutout to the Orrville PTO, our parent volunteers, our coaches, and all the area support groups that make this event possible.”
With smiles, hugs, and plenty of Red Rider spirit, the Back to School Bash once again proved why Orrville is such a special place to learn, work, and live. As the sun set over the stadium, it was clear that the 2025–2026 school year is off to a fantastic start.
